The Boston Crew in ‘The Combat Zone’ Boston, Massachusetts, 1982; Photograph by Gail Rush
My daughter, Christine Elise McCarthy, was part of The Boston Crew, and she asked me to photograph them together, not just individual bands but as a crew. I was shooting out front of a strip club called The Naked I when a cop came by to see what was going on with this huge crew of teenage boys. He laughed when he saw what was happening. He said ‘Move along. People won’t come in or out of here with a camera at the door.’ Gail Rush
